Nice to meet you. My name is Nicky Lord and I have over 8 years experience working with children in various settings (Big Brothers Big Sisters, Epilepsy Support Centre, Integra Foundation, as well as babysitting!). I absolutely love children, and have a great time being their babysitter! I am interested in becoming an occasional babysitter for a family who has a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am currently completing a degree in Autism and Behavioural Science and would love the experience to work with a child with Autism. I worked as a babysitter for a family of three girls (age 5, 7 and 10) for two years fulltime over the summer. I have also volunteered in various children mental health agencies - Integra Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Epilepsy Support Centre. As a volunteer I worked one-on-one with children in a mentorship role and I have volunteered in a social competency group where I worked with children with ADHD foster prosocial skills. In addition, I completed an undergraduate student placement at ChildReach - an Early Years Centre where I worked with children 0 to 6 and their parents. I facilitated groups, and worked one-on-one with children helping them with art activities. I am currently completing my graduate student placement at the ADHD Clinic where I assess children, and youth with ADHD and work with the family to find community resources to help the family. In addition, I have work experience where I have worked with children aged 2 to 16 as an early education assistant and currently with children who reside in a domestic violence shelter. In both roles I designed programs to facilitate the children\\\'s learning while still ensuring that they have fun.
