We first encountered Amanda’s professional, caring, trustworthy personality and childcare skills set at our daughters local preschool were she was one of the educators. We became ‘bonded’ with Amanda literally ‘by accident’: she was the primary caregiver to our 2 year old after a fall where her chin tore open, requiring stitches. Recognizing this bond between her and my child, we approached Amanda about casual child care opportunities. We have gone through many “sitters” over the years, and the search is completely over. In summary...and in place of a list of adjectives describing her, here are a few of the hands-on experiences that consistently sets Amanda apart: -Without us making the request - Amanda keeps us updated via text and photos for the duration of our time away. -She naturally takes a focus toward outdoor play: in the summer months she is at the park with the kids until either dinner or bedtime call. In the colder seasons, she’s arrived declaring “I bought my snow pants...just in case!”. -When the weather or time of day did not lend itself to outdoor exploitation, she arrived with an all ages activity kit in hand: a hands on exploration in texture and science (“Ooblek”) that my kids still talk about! -When I’ve been unable to prepare dinner for her arrival, I’ve inquired on her preferences for “ordering in” and her response has been...“the kids and I will make pizza!” My kids still talk about this! -Whatever the activity (Ooblek, outdoor play, dinner) we return to our home to find our kids clean, sleeping, and the house keeping the secrets of the adventures they found. Amanda is conscientious, professional, and caring. Inadvertently, we have already tested her mettle in an emergency situation (when my daughter fell), and there is such a comfort for our family knowing she is around. I am not the slightest bit offended that my kids often ask for her to come over - whether or not we “need” her.
