Nanny Job in Toronto, Ontario

Hello potential nannies, We are a family of 4 living in the west end of Toronto between the Junction and Bloor West Village neighbourhoods. We have two gentle and affectionate children, Willow who is 5, and River who is 3. I have been home with them all their lives. During my time as a stay at home parent I decided on a career change, and pursued my dream of becoming a midwife. I am now half way though the Midwifery program at Ryerson University, and this January- April, I will be heading into a clinical placement that will have me away from home for long and unpredictable lengths of time, catching babies! It is going to be a big transition for our whole family, having mama away, and we are looking for a sensitive, gentle and loving care provider that can help our children make that transition as easily as possible. We parent more on the attachment side of the spectrum and believe in treating children gently and with respect. The ideal candidate is one fluent in English with strong communication skills, and a compassionate and attentive disposition. The ideal candidate would also have some measure of experience in child care, and be trained in appropriate CPR and other relevant emergency skills. Of the utmost importance is being punctual daily at 8am. Duties include the responsibility of getting the children to and from school and other (minimal) commitments (all in walkable distance), while helping with light housekeeping duties and dinner prep during times the children are at school (basic cooking skills are required). If things work out well, there are opportunities in the coming two years for more work with our family, including a yearlong placement in 2019. The ideal candidate is healthy, playful and active. We keep a non-toxic home and eat whole, healthy foods. It is important to us that our children get lots of play time, reading time, time out in nature and very minimal screen time. Our home is a relaxed and positive environment, and we are hoping to find someone that can feel like a member of our family for the time they are with us.
