Nanny Job in Sarnia, Ontario

We are a busy family of four (plus our dog!) looking for an amazing person to become a nanny for two beautiful children ages 10 (F) and 6 (M). We live in Camlachie, (20 mins from Sarnia). We need someone to help in the mornings with getting ready for school, and in the evenings with school pick-ups and afterschool activities every day, Monday to Friday. Availability all day on certain days will be required (much advance notice will be provided). The ideal person will provide complete care for the children in the our home and perform all tasks in relation to the care of the children. We are looking for someone who will create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which our children can thrive and develop. Hours: 6:00am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 6:30pm (Mon - Fri) Salary: Negotiable Main Nanny Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare children for school– bathe/shower 7 year old twice a day and supervise baths for older child, pack lunches, cleanup afterwards • School drop off and pick up • Supervising and helping children’s homework • Light house work including: o Washing and ironing children's clothes o Planning meals and snacks for the children o Preparing meals and snacks for the children o Supervising children's meals o Cleaning and washing up after children's meals • Keeping the children’s areas (e.g., bedrooms and play areas) neat and tidy • Dressing children appropriate to the child's activities • Shopping for children's requirements • Scheduling and coordinating children's activities • Transporting children to school and other activities • Undertaking appropriate creative activities with the children • Undertaking appropriate educational activities with the children • Undertaking appropriate outdoor activities with the children • Planning and supervising rest, bed and nap times • Reading to and with the children • Reinforcing appropriate discipline for the children • Implementing daily routines • Running errands as required • Administer medicine to the children as required Requirements: • Must possess minimum a High school diploma • Must own car – Must have a driving license, proper auto insurance, and safe driving record • Punctual - Able to come in early in the morning and evening • Proven child care experience with references • Must pass RCMP criminal record check • Authorization to work in Canada • Ability to care for a special needs child (particularly child on the autism spectrum) • Fun and enthusiastic person, interested in, and able to participate in children’s activities • English proficiency - Outstanding verbal communication skills. • Non-smoker • Outstanding planning, organizational and multitasking abilities with minimal supervision • Prior experience working with a special needs child (particularly child on the autism spectrum) will be a strong asset. • Further training in child care and development such as a formal nanny training program, early childhood classes and/or in-service training will be an asset • Bilingualism will be an asset • First Aid and CPR certified will be an asset Competencies: • Reliable, honest, and trustworthy • Flexibility • Adaptability • Ability to multitask • Emotional maturity • Good judgment skills • Stress tolerance • High energy level - Physical ability to care for young children NOTE: Live-in arrangements may be considered with appropriate work hours and salary negotiated.
