Nanny Job in Brampton, Ontario

Seeking an experienced, qualified individual committed to working with children with special needs for a part-time occasional position. Applicant is responsible for the personal support of a young child with Cerebral Palsy in Brampton West. The applicant will assist the child with accessing educational activities, transferring them between various pieces of equipment, (eg. wheelchair, walker, etc.) and tending to their personal care needs (eg. feeding, toileting and diaper changing). S/he must be willing to assist the child at home and in the community while on various educational related trips. The applicant will also tend to a younger sibling when necessary. They will be required to work with, including but not limited to, the child\'s parent (s), Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. Work Term Position open immediately (preferred) until August 31, 2016 (available Monday to Friday, approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as needed) with an opportunity to renew for one or two additional years. Required Skills and Experience - At least 3 years of experience in interacting and working with children 0 to 10 years of age - At least 3 years of experience with engaging children in fun and interactive ways (eg. singing age appropriate songs/rhymes, reading with expression and animation, etc.) - Strong organizational, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; tact, attention to detail and sound judgment. - Good command of English Language (oral and written) is necessary - Physically fit to lift 30 lbs. with proper technique and is able to get up from the floor comfortably - Able to maintain tidy work area - Willing to be trained on the job where necessary (based on their skill sets) and to learn, grasp and apply new concepts and techniques as required by the position as necessary - Occasionally supervise and engage both children while mother is in house. - Current First Aid CPR (Level C). - Valid, current Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector, REQUIRED prior to beginning work Additional Skills and Experience (highly sought, but not required) - At least 3 years of experience interacting and/or working with people with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, etc. - Proficient with computers and tablets (Windows, Apple iOS) and Office applications - Working knowledge of American Sign language - Experience in swimming and/or teaching swimming Education - Completed, and/or be enrolled in, a post-secondary program or equivalent - Health care field such as Nursing, Kinesiology, or educational related field such as Teaching, Educational Assistant and/or Early Childhood Education is an asset but not required Compensation - Negotiable, hours per week will vary depending on the schedule Application Deadline: September 23, 2015 Application Details - Applicant must be legally allowed to work in Canada - Two work, placement or volunteer related references required after initial phone interview. - Only applicants who are being considered for the position will be interviewed in person. - Valid current Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector, required prior to beginning work.
