Nanny in Ottawa, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I looked after the children by supporting them and creating a positive stress-free environment. Played games, sports, and engaged in other activities with the children. Supervised and participated in fun and educational activities with the children. Taught children proper social manners. Disciplined the children when necessary. Changed real and disposable diapers. Spoke with parents to discuss their individual child’s needs. Gave clear advice and direction to children. Provided the children with mental stimulation. Substituted for Head Teacher's position for a week. My short and long term goals are intertwined. I would like to find a family that provides me with the ability to make a difference in their child’s life. I am looking for a stable environment in which I can grow as a person and provide the love and affection, along with disciplinary structure, which will help develop one’s character. Being a nanny is not an easy job. It requires interest and a lot of patience to babysit children. I have a high emotional quotient and I get on well with kids. A few years ago, I realized my natural instinct and decided to base my career on it. Since then, there has been no looking back. I have been working with children from various age groups for the last five years and I have enjoyed every bit of it. I always manage to add lot of fun to the job. I have the required skills, experience, and keenness and thus I suit this job perfectly. Getting a job in child care would do wonders for my career, and a lot of opportunities are on the line. My career is what’s most important to me, and I’ll do anything to move it forward. I have a Master's degree in Early childhood and childhood education (Birth to Grade 6), therefore I make a perfect nanny because I am very well trained and qualified as a school teacher. I’m very creative and I always find something to do with children such as arts & crafts, making jewelry, making puppets or animals, finding some new games or making them up, teaching children new games, songs, and dances. I am an open minded person. I am kind and really patient. I am smart, I can teach them and help them with things or school work. I just love it and I will always give 110%. I am looking for a nice, warm, and fun family with children, a house or apartment. I want a family who will accept me for who I am and include me in their life like part of the family. With my educational philosophy I hope to achieve a safe, community-based environment where children's interests and growth can flourish in a positive way. All of the elements that I exhibit will undoubtedly shape the mold for that safe community, as well as help the days run smoothly for the children. I want to recognize the children I work with and care for as individuals and make them aware that they are strengthened because of their uniqueness. Humor will be a staple in the environment I need and provide, because a simple smile eases so many worries, and children should feel care free of worries and excited to learn. Most of all, I want to instill in the children I work with a love and passion for learning. I believe that all of this can be done inside the safe, welcoming environment. Constructive criticism is for me just a lesson. And a lesson can never be bad. Especially in this job area, because parents will always do something different from the way I will do it so I have to respect them because the children are theirs. So if someone has criticism, I will listen and try to understand why, and then do it the parents' way, of course. I am inclined to take the parents' criticism into consideration and can usually see how they think differently from me and come to a compromise. Everyone has their own opinion, so I think anyone should accept what someone believes or says. But I also think that anyone can make a compromise if necessary. There are always ways to work with all kinds of people. I have never worked with parents where it was difficult. Being open and honest about everything will help a lot to get along with people from all walks of life so there won’t be any difficulties. I don’t get upset really easy. But people who don't want to listen because they think they know it all can get me frustrated. I think listening to each other is the most important key for communication. That's why it’s so important to teach children that that they have to listen but also that they can give their opinion. I resolve conflicts by talking, being honest, and listening to each other. With children, I resolve my conflicts with a talk and hug, because I think it is important that we listen what children have to say and that the person is listening to you when you are talking about what went wrong in the first place. I do not believe that fighting and screaming is necessary. Working with children is so much about understanding the needs of the children and devising different methods that will help raise their interest, lead to growth, and facilitate learning. To make learning fun and easy, I always incorporated creativity in my work as an engaging teaching method to the children I worked with. I also have had experience of working with children with severe cognitive handicaps. To meet the needs of these children, I used co-generated pictures and other individualized creative strategies for communication. In my current position, I have showcased excellent multi-tasking, prioritization, project coordination, and time management skills. My past experiences range from teaching kindergarten classes to observing and assisting in a wide range of elementary school classrooms to student teaching in first to sixth grade classrooms. I have a passion for working with children and could not imagine myself in any other profession. Through these experiences I have built personal relationships with my students, parents, and school staff. Along with my teaching skills, I bring positive and creative energy to the table and a strong desire and an unflinching commitment to work with other like-minded people for the betterment of children. I will bring high energy, creativity, passion, and a team player attitude to your home. I am confident in my abilities to be extremely successful as a nanny in your home. I welcome challenge, I am self-motivated, dedicated and hard-working. I am honesty, confident, patient, enjoy my work, and never give up. I hold a Bachelor's degree in mass communication with a concentration in journalism, a post-graduate diploma in documentary production and screen writing, and a Master's of science degree in early childhood and childhood education (birth - grade 6). I graduated from Niagara University, NY with my M...... and was an honors graduate. I am currently working on my novel, which is going to be published in December 2016 by Xlibris publishing. I was also trained in creative writing by an Australian author, Elise Valmorbida. One of the things I want out of life is purpose. To find my calling and live it to live with intention and purpose; to live my life as I do and want, to grow my soul through the lessons life throws at us. At the end, I want to be able to say I made a positive change that had a major effect on children in the large community.
