Nanny in Montreal, Quebec

Originally from the sleepy countryside of England, I have recently relocated to the city of Montreal and I am looking for a warm and welcoming family to work alongside either full or part time. After completing my Ba Honours Education Studies Degree in the Uk I moved to the Cayman Islands to nanny for a year. Working with two newborns I recognised the importance of a strong routine for happy babies. Being able to sleep train the girls it was easy to establish a structured daily life. Carrying out all nursery duties I also provided age appropriate activities and enjoyed developing their social skills with fun playdates. Naturally, I fell in love with the island and accepted a teaching position at a Montessori school and remained on the island for another 2 years working within the early years sector. I was able to develop the skills needed to be flexible and react confidently to developing situations. I was able to use and evaluate a range of behaviour management techniques and provide structure and routine in which all children could flourish. As a believer of the Montessori philosophy I understand the importance of developing the whole child and I am passionate about inspiring a child's natural curiosity and creativity. Returning to England I became a live in part time nanny for a small family. Caring for a 7 year old girl I was able to nurture her passion for music, athletics and helping others. I worked hard at improving her mathematics through extra curricular activities, creative solutions and boosting self esteem. I pride myself in being able to quickly develop affirming relationships built on trust, clear communication and nurturing each child's individuality. During my time as a nanny I have been able adapt to family life whilst recognising the need for quality family time and respecting each family's set of values. Alongside nannying I also worked at my local college as a Wellbeing Advisor supporting teens with an assortment of challenges. Working one on one with a select few, with a variety of complex care and emotional needs I was able to offer guidance and confidential counselling. Understanding the importance of a healthy mind set, myself and staff were able to supply a strong support network offering extra curricular clubs, mentoring schemes and a sense of community. Due to my work as a Wellbeing Advisor I am now confident in creating an empathetic and understanding environment and I now know the true value of letting a child be heard. I am a well balanced individual with a hard working ethos and down to earth nature. I am pediatric first aid trained, water safety trained and have my police clearance. I am a fun but fair nanny that has a passion for providing outstanding childcare and I believe that with my tapestry of experience and education that I might find a lovely family here in Montreal to grow with!
