Nanny in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

My name is Shelby Allain, I am a 21 year old student who just recently moved to the Dartmouth area to attend university. I am attending Mount St Vincent and am registered in their Child and Youth Studies program. I have always loved working with children, especially toddler-preschool age. I find children so enjoyable and interesting to interact with. I hope I get the opportunity to meet with you and learn more about your family and children! I have worked with children since I was a young teenager. When I was fifteen I began babysitting an eighteen month old boy almost everyday during the summer. I continue to casually babysit him as well as his younger brother, who were both diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. I was required to learn the proper ways to care for the boys since they needed special care, medicine and daily physiotherapy. I also worked in a Kindergarten class as a helper, assisting the teacher in planning crafts as well as ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children. Once that job ended, I received a job as a Daycare Worker and was moved through the ages, working with children from 15 months - 4 years of age. I helped in planning activities as well as assisted in potty training and learning programs. I am now attending school to learn more about children and youth in hopes of being able to work with them even more in the future.
