My name is Reighan Kirton. I am 20 years old and a current student at the University of Alberta studying Psychology. By the time I complete my post-secondary education I hope to become a teacher and school counsellor for elementary school students. I have had a love for children and infants since I was one myself. I got my babysitting certificate as soon as I was old enough and have been babysitting ever since. I have babysat for family and friends, even people I did not know before. I have always been told that I am great with kids and that they get along with me very well. I have cared for newborns, infants, toddlers and children of all ages leading up to teenage years. In the past, most of the time I have cared for children in the evening and overnight and other times a complete day. I can cook and clean. I also have sufficient knowledge in first aide and have studied child development at the University level. I have gained a lot of experience in looking after children through my time as a camp counsellor at Our Lady of Victory Camp for three summers. I was a camp counsellor at Our Lady of Victory Camp from the time I was 14 until I was 17. This kind of work included around the clock supervision and interaction with children aged 11, 12 or 13 (depending on the age group of the week) for an entire week. It was a very rewarding experience and I learned many skills such as patience, listening, counselling and compassion. I am available for all-day care while parents are working, as well as evening and overnight care. Whatever your family needs to me to be, I can be that.
