My name is Laella and I am very excited that you are reading this post! Since I was 12 years old, I have surrounded myself with children, both in a formal capacity as a camp counsellor, and more informally, as a babysitter and as an aunt (to 2 beautiful children!). Aligned with my background in psychology, I have a unique ability to cater my childcare to each child on an individual basis, gaining the insight into what is best for the child at that time according to their development, age, and interest level. I am passionate about providing children with the structure as well as the room to develop themselves to become happy and resilient individuals. For 6 years, I worked as a camp counsellor for children aged 2 and up, where my duties spanned multiple environments and activities. The group sizes were approximately 10 children per group. In these positions, I was responsible for planning daily activities for the children, including time for art, music, computers, dance, drama, and free play. I was also responsible for all of their bodily needs including food and washroom necessities. In addition, I would change the children for their swim time and help the lifeguards with supervision. I frequently babysit for children as young as 6 months and as old as 12. The average size of these groups are around 3 children. With these children, I engage them creatively in age-appropriate play, whether it is imaginative games or more structured activities. In addition, my sister\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s children are 4 years old and 2 years old and I babysit them on a weekly basis. I have also been involved in research with The Hospital for Sick Children conducting research on youth between the ages of 7 and 17 years old.
