My name is Celine Nathoo, I am entering my fourth year studying Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. My career aspiration is to be a pediatric physiotherapist. I love working with kids and I have both worked and volunteered with many organizations centering around children. I have held leadership positions such as a Counsellor at the Trafalgar Castle Day Camp working with children ages 3-14 as well as being a Program Assistant for the CanSkate program at the Whitby Figure Skating Club, and currently I am on the executive of the Free the Children club at the University of Ottawa which has over 400 members. These positions have given me the opportunity to gain leadership experience and prove that I am reliable, adaptable, enthusiastic and well-rounded. My experience as a camp counsellor has given me skills like patience, the ability to teach difficult children, the ability to creatively adapt to unexpected situations, as well as time management, because regardless of if whether a camper excels or they are struggling, at a young age they need encouragement and equal face time. As a counsellor I have seen how a little positivity and encouragement can transform a child from being timid and shy to enthusiastic and confident and look forward to coming to camp each day. Both positions have required me to be responsible and accountable for children as young as three years old, and ensure their safety and wellbeing in a positive and learning environment. My time spent as a part of the Whitby Synchronized Skating teams as well as the Whitby Figure Skating Club have helped me develop great leadership, time management and organizational skills. Counsellor for Trafalgar Day Camp -Create fun and educational activities for campers ages 4-12 to do in Design and Technology and Science and Nature -Responsible for promoting a healthy, positive environment for all campers in group (approximately 22 campers per group) CIT for the Play in a Week program -Choreographed dances and blocking in plays -Directed backstage activity -Assisted children aged 4-15 memorize lines, blocking, and choreography (approximately 15 children per group) Program Assistant - Whitby Figure Skating Club - taught the fundamentals of figure skating to children ages 3-15 (approximately 10 children per group) - ensure a safe, positive learning environment
