We are looking for a caregiver for 4 days a week, from January to August 2014, with the possibility of extension. Apply by Nov 18. Care will be for our son who is almost three. One day per week (or two half-days) care will also be for our niece who is three and a half. Care will take place in our home and will include daily outings to local parks, community centres, drop-in programs, libraries, etc. Hours will be 8am-6pm. Location: We live in a house on a residential street one block from Commercial Broadway SkyTrain Station and the 99B Line. About us: We are a professional couple who value our son having a loving attachment to adults, including his caregiver. We emphasize physical and outside activity, reading books, good manners and play-based learning. We don’t have a TV and we limit screen-time. About the kids: Our son (almost 3) and his cousin (3.5) are both mature for their ages, with strong language skills and good physical coordination. Both are fully toilet trained. About you: You are an experienced caregiver who truly enjoys children, is vigilant about their safety, and interacts with them with love and respect. You like to get outside in all weather, are comfortable taking transit and walking, and will engage with the kids in a variety of interesting activities. You are a non-smoker, have first aid and resuscitation training, and can provide a criminal record check. Early childhood education is definitely an asset. Responsibilities include: • Take children on a daily outing, with variety through the week • Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities • Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children • Assist with the physical and emotional development of the children • Provide a consistent routine and stability • Provide gentle guidance and discipline as necessary • Provide daily verbal and/or written reports on the children’s activities • Tidy and clean-up after meals and children’s activities Compensation: We will provide a competitive salary, commensurate with experience as well as 1 day paid vacation per month and statutory holidays.
