I'm an
Individual
To whom it may concern, As a current student enrolled at Mount Royal University, I am in my last year of my Child and Youth Care Counselor Diploma. I received my Human Service Diploma in 2009 from Thompson Rivers University specializing in Child and Youth Care. I have also received my Child Development Worker Certificate (formerly level 2) from the Government of Alberta. I am currently looking for part time work that will allow me to build upon these skills and further my education. In June, I completed a two week contract with CUPS One World Child Development Center as an Education Assistant. Here, I supported the teachers in a classroom with approximately 13 children in preschool classroom setting. The children in this program are from low income families but from diverse backgrounds. Some of my duties included, • Support child on a one to one basis, or in a group setting in classroom or outside • Motivate and encourage children to participate in class activities and discussions • Ensure health, safety, and well-being of children in care • Provide outdoor supervision at recess and lunch • Help assist teacher(s) with games, crafts, and various activities Additionally, I have completed my • Prevent It! (Pilot Program) from Little Warriors • Straight Talk from the Center for Suicide Prevention • Tattered Teddies from the Center for Suicide Prevention • Mental Health First Aid from the Mental Health Commission of Canada. • Standard Child Care First Aid CPR/ AED Level B from the Canadian Red Cross • Standard First Aid CPR/ AED Level C from the Canadian Red Cross Furthermore, I have over ten years experience in customer service, where I have been acknowledged by employers and customers for my efficiency. I have learned to deal with and communicate effectively during different types of circumstances. This has also given me the opportunity to be a part of numerous teams and to value working as a team player. In addition, I also excel at Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to any follow up questions that you may have. References are also available upon request. Here my duties included ensuring the safety and happiness of approximately 10 children, planning various activities, helping with lunch and snack, and light cleaning duties. I have also been a summer day camp leader where I was responsible for assisting the other day camp leaders plan activities that corresponded to the weekly theme, work one-on-one with children that needed extra help, and ensure the health and safety of the children.
