Nanny Job in Calgary, Alberta

The House Parent lives off campus taking care of elite athletes. The hours are evenings 6pm-11pm, weekends and an overnight on either Friday or Saturday. All candidates will be required to undergo thorough background checks as well as to be willing to obtain valid First Aid certification, Food Safety certification and Child Abuse Prevention certification through the Canadian Red Cross or other reputable source. RESPONSIBILITIES To supervise in the residence, ensuring that it is a welcoming environment and operation To assist in all elements of residential care for students, in all aspects of personal hygiene, including laundry, minor household maintenance, maintaining order and cleanliness and the upkeep of their accommodation Recognizing students' health care needs and referring to medical services when appropriate Keeping accurate records To actively discourage students from engaging in improper behavior, including sexual liaisons, bullying, rowdiness, or any other activity which could be of harm to other students or bring the School of Alberta Ballet into disrepute Maintaining Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, Food Safe and universal precaution guidelines and procedures To assist in the preparation of meals Completing some light administrative duties QUALIFICATIONS Experience providing direct care for youth, ages 12 to 17 High School Diploma or above Ability to work under pressure and be adaptable Some knowledge of other cultures Current First Aid certificate Good knowledge or interest in youth development and the performing arts Proven teamwork abilities, but must also be self-motivated and able to work independently Sound time-management and prioritization skills Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record. Must pass extensive personal, criminal and vulnerable sector background check. COMPENSATION This position is a part-time position with the starting wage at $16.00 for working hours and $11.20 for overnight sleeping shifts.
