Nanny in Ottawa, Ontario

My name is Cailey, I am twenty one years old and will be finishing my third year of Nursing at the University of Ottawa this spring. For the past five years I have worked as both a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA during which I have gained valuable experience working with children. I absolutely love my job at the YMCA and I am hoping to be able to get more work working with children this summer. I grew up in a big family as I have three younger brothers and an older sister. Being one of the older siblings I was often given the responsibility of looking after my younger brothers. Along with my experience at the YMCA, caring for my brothers has taught me much about responsibility and patience. To me, there is nothing more gratifying then having the opportunity to teach a child something new and to have a positive impact on them as the grow up. I am trained in first aid and CPR and, therefore, know how to react in emergency situations. I am very willing to plan activities and trips for the children and to lifeguard at home pools or beaches if the opportunity is presented. I like to have fun while working with children but I also understand the responsibility I have been entrusted with when caring for other people kids. I take that responsibility to heart by doing the best I can to ensure the child has a safe environment in which they can learn and play. As a swim instructor I was in charge of teaching the children swimming skills as well as their ensuring their safety. My classes could have up to six children in them and I taught a wide variety of age groups ranging from one year olds to fifteen year olds.
