Nanny in London, Ontario

My name is Melissa and I provide emergency and occasional babysitting for parents in London, Ontario. I do give preference to the Central and North end of London. A little about myself: I am from a family of eight children. Having five sisters and two brothers growing up, I was often baby-sat by my older siblings and from a young age helped out with my younger siblings. Since the age of about fourteen, I also started babysitting children from my neighbourhood. Over the past years I have gotten lots of experience taking care of and interacting with children from a variety of different age groups and in a variety of different settings. I am a certified lifeguard/instructor and worked seasonally for the City of London Aquatics, where I taught swimming lessons to all ages (this qualification is not up to date due to COVID). Currently I am a part-time DSW (Developmental Service Worker) with Community Living London, where I work occasionally at the children respite locations. I am comfortable with administering medications and also with working with those who have intellectual or physical disabilities. I do occasional weekend evening baby-sitting for a family I have worked with for about 4 years in the Sunningdale area. In the past I have volunteered in London high schools presenting to classes violence prevention. I also currently tutor ESL all ages, for the Cross Cultural Learners Centre. Often this includes building on English conversation skills, cultural immersion, reviewing their agenda for the kids, assigned readings and other homework. I am also comfortable with helping with all pets and pet care, as I am a volunteer with Animal Alert here in London. Education & Certification: College certificate in General Arts and Science. University of Western Ontario in Honors Specialization Human Ecology, Families and Nutrition (graduating Aug 2021).
