Nanny in Mississauga, Ontario

I am a qualified teacher looking for a summer position. I have been working as a teacher for children aged 3-12 for the past 3 years and have many years of experience working with children prior to that. During my high school career, I worked as a full time nanny for two young children during the summer months for 3 years in a row. I planned activities inside and outside of the home such as bike rides, trips to local parks, farms, ice cream shops, swimming, crafts, scavenger hunts, lemonade stands, etc. For this family, I prepared breakfast and lunch, and on occasion dinner for the children. After graduating university with a BA in Child and Youth Studies as well as a BEd, I worked for the YMCA as a before and after school child care worker and spent 1 summer working as a YMCA pre-school teacher. At this time I also worked with underprivileged children as a Recess Coordinator throughout the day and as an in-school and private tutor. During the summer of 2020, I nannied a 1 year old boy. Since many things were closed due to the pandemic we had fun going on walks, and playing in the backyard. I also enjoyed planning fun sensory activities to help with fine motor development. This same summer, I nannied 2 boys that were 5 and 9 years old. We enjoyed stem activities like lego and science experiments as well as going on bike rides. I believe in engaging children in fun and meaningful activities that will help them grow and learn, as well as keeping them active. I take an authoritative approach to discipline that is understanding, positive and encouraging, yet based in rules and consequences when necessary. My hobbies & interests: I am an avid skier in the winter and love to spend any time I can in the summer up north. I'm passionate about living a healthy life style through physical activity and nutrition and keep active daily.
