Hi there! I have bounds of experience and passion for working with children and youth. I am working towards being a children's play therapist and thoroughly enjoy spending time with kids. I look forward to hearing from you! I have worked with many children of many different ages and backgrounds. I have worked as a counsellor and as a supervisor at Camp Towhee - a residential therapeutic program for children and youth with learning disabilities. This experience has allowed me to learn problem solving techniques with children and youth as well as different neuro-diverse minds (including on the autistic scale). I have also worked with children and youth internationally. I worked with Lifeline's Bridge the Gap program in Georgetown, Guyana (South America) and gained experience working with children and youth infected and affected with HIV/AIDs. In addition to tutoring and homework help, I encouraged safe space play learning with these children and youth. I have a lot of tutoring experience with all age groups including tutoring at risk children with the Toronto District School Board and mentoring first year athletic students at Queen's University. I am currently working with an after school youth program. I also have experience working with Frontier College - the oldest literacy organization in Canada. I began working as a tutor with a child learning English, and then worked my way up over a few years. Last year I directed all the programs in Kingston including childrens homework clubs, reading circles, literacy programs in a women's shelter and began a literacy outreach program in a local seniors home.
