Nanny in Ottawa, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hi there! I am currently completing a Master\'s degree at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA), at Carleton University, and am seeking a summer 2015 job opportunity, prior to starting my coop position in the Fall of 2015. I\'ve always enjoyed working with kids, which can be seen through my extensive work with children (currently through French tutoring, and in the past through leading camps and multisport programs with the Parks and Recreation Department at the City of Ottawa, and volunteering abroad to teach English to children in Thailand). I feel that I am highly energetic, enthusiastic, and creative, while able to maintain an authoritative role. I consider myself to be well-organized, responsible, and great at time management, all of which I can give great thanks to my many years in school and to my longstanding employment with City of Ottawa Camps and After-School Programs! I am flexible with hours, though I am seeking full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the summer months (particularly from May 25th-early September). I have access to a car, but must be notified beforehand of the tasks to coordinate use of the shared vehicle. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you! Jessica I am currently a tutor for subjects taught in French. Some of my tasks include: • Effectively providing comprehensive explanations of subject matter and key concepts • Efficiently designing homework schedules for tutees • Allotting and managing sufficient time for specific activities within each given subject Most of my current students are in 4th-8th grade; however, in the past I have tutored younger and older children as well, varying from 2nd grade-10th grade. From 2009-201... (summers), I was a Beach Volleyball and Camps Coordinator with the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Ottawa. • I was in the office prior to camp season, gaining administrative and managerial experience- specifically, I was responsible for processing camp applications and scheduling week slots within the given time frame • I successfully ran and designed City of Ottawa camps and youth leadership programs- depending on the camp itself, I was working with kids ages 5-16 (5 days/week from 8am-4pm- I was generally working for beach camps). The ratio of campers to leaders was roughly 10: 1. From 2009-201... (during the school year), I coached multisport programs during after-school hours and on weekends. I was lucky enough to coach a variety of programs, ranging from teaching 2-3 year olds the basics of sports (throwing, catching, running, jumping, etc.), to coaching indoor and beach volleyball to 14-16 year old girls. I also coordinated low-income housing programs, which took place in community centres and community centre parks after school. I focused on the girls' empowerment program, which was focused on games and activities for girls aged 8-16; each week was different, ranging from dance and yoga to health and nutrition. In the summer of 2011, I travelled to Thailand and volunteered at a school that was part of the DEPDC (Development and Education Program for Daughters and Communities). I was an English and Dance teacher, and day camp leader.
