Nanny in Brooklin, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hi there, I am currently looking for summer employment as a nanny. I will be able to work from April to August of this year. I have worked with kids for the last three summers at summer camp as a camp counsellor. I also worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters for my student placement for school. I am a creative, fun loving person who loves the opportunity to work with children. If you have any questions at all, please ask! Thanks so much, Lara York Professional Care- Hidden Bay Leadership Camp 342-7345... Aurora/Ontario Camp Counsellor/Inclusion Counsellor I worked as a camp counsellor, while helping the one-on-one counsellors who worked with the campers with developmental disabilities. I helped by taking over for the counsellors when they took their breaks throughout the camp day. Together with the one-on-one campers, we would bake, canoe, kayak, paint, do other arts and crafts activities, and other general camp activities. The main focus here was to help the camper feel safe and secure while at the same time having a fun and activity-filled experience with their other fellow campers. It taught me the many different struggles and considerations that take place in implementing these successful experiences, and the immeasurable importance of putting in all effort in order to help those with different types of disabilities or varying levels of needs feel not only a part of the community they are in, but an important facet of it. Camp Riverwood 887-1887... Markham/Ontario Camp Counsellor At this camp I worked as a camp counsellor as well. It was a day camp, so the activities were quite different from over-night camps. The important things I learned here were to keep things fresh while doing the same types of activities every day. Adding new things to the activities was so key in keeping the campers interested and excited. It also helped me as a counsellor feel fresh and excited myself. I also ran the guitar program at the camp. I planned the days spent on important beginner factors of learning to play while incorporating activities into these newly found skills. The guitar program was very successful, even resulting in campers asking for guitar classes after camp hours to take their new skills further. At Big Brothers Big Sisters I worked with a girl in grade 5 with asperger's syndrome. I worked with her for a year once a week for an hour at lunch time in order to get her more comfortable with spending lunch at school. Erin and I would spend our time eating lunch, talking, drawing (she was great with any type of art), playing outside and just spending time getting to know each other. Erin taught me patience and the resiliency of a person even in some of the toughest situations.
