Hi! My name is Katie! I am a mom to an energetic little boy that turned 1 on April 6th. Becoming a mom has been the single greatest thing that has happened to me. Watching him grow and develop everyday amazes me! Aside from being a mom, I am a Child and Youth Worker graduate from Fanshawe College. I also will be finishing my Early Childhood Educator diploma in January 2019. Currently I hold a valid First Aid with level C CPR certificate, as well as a current clear Police Records Check and a Vulnerable Position Screening. I have strong time management skills, proficient communication skills and excellent organizational skills. I am very creative and enjoy organizing activities for youth to participate in. I am a caring, empathetic individual with a passion to work with others. Patient, creative, punctual, and hardworking are skills that I am proud of possessing. I excel in building relationships with those I work with and provide a positive environment with encouragement and motivation. I am flexible with hours and adapt to different situations and surroundings well. I am open minded and able to listen and take others ideas into consideration. I have in school experience as I have facilitated a before and after school program for 2 years at Harrisfield Public School in Ingersoll. I also, have had placements in schools such as working along side the LST at East Oxford Public School in my first year college placement and working in school with my local Big Brothers Big Sisters assisting children learn basic social skills. Aside from my in school experience, I also have experience in working with youth with a variety of different mental health needs including; bipolar, depression, psychosis, antisocial, borderline personality, substance abuse, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, etc. Also, I have experience in observing youth and recording my observations in a professional manner as I completed daily charting at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit of Grand River Hospital. I have extensive experience in supervising youth and implementing activities relating different ages as well. I have experience in building professional relationships with families, which enables me to pass along critical information, suggestions and answer any questions they may have.
