Hi my name is Chelsey! I am a 4 year university student working towards my double degree in English and Political Studies. I enjoy spending time with children because I believe that children have so much to teach adults. Seeing the world through a child\\\\\\\'s eyes is one of the most amazing things that a person can experience. When I work with children, I do as much as I can to stimulate the creativity and the sense of wonder in a child which means getting them to think, create and imagine. Growing up, my parents limited the amount time spent on television, video games etc. for my brother, sister and I, encouraging us instead to be outside, to make and create, to read, to write, really anything that gave us the ability to use our imaginations. Although I don\\\\\\\'t have children of my own, I think that my philosophy on child care reflects my own upbringing and my own views on allowing children to experience the world through their imaginations and their creativity. I have had experience with childcare since I was a teen. I babysat for a number of years for various families in my area. Duties included meals, bath time and bedtime routines, light cleaning, planning activities both indoor and outdoor that did not include television. During the summers of 2009 and 2010, I worked as a playground leader in my hometown. I was responsible for up to 30 children each day for a weekday playground program from 12pm to 5pm. Responsibilities included safe play on a playground and in a paddling pool, activities including creative crafts, movement games and water games.
