Nanny in Scarborough, Ontario

I am from Barbados and I have been working in childcare for 3 years. I am 34 years old and have a certificate in childcare and nursery management. I also had training in first aid and cpr, meal preparation for children both very young and teenaged. My experience goes from working with babies, toddlers, preschoolers and teens, to working with downsyndrome individuals. I like a challenge which in turn keeps me from getting bored. That's why I am always looking to reinvent myself. I look for new innovative, constructive and fun ways to engage the young inquisitive minds of children by engaging them with puzzles, memory exercises, quizzes, block building, sorting of shapes and learning of colors and numbers to playing with play dough, reading books and story telling and the list goes on and on. My motto is a child is never too young to learn and the earlier you start, the better the results will be. I like to get to know the children in my care. It's all about them. Keeping them happy and safe while still assisting in developing their motor and cognitive skills. I've volunteered at a camp where I worked with 15 teens. Out of the fifteen one of the young ladies was s troubled teen who had some psychological issues which she confided in me about. I counselled her and now she helps counsel other youths at the same camp. I feel working in childcare is what I have been called to do, and I always give 150%.
