Hi, My name is Kendra and I am a 22 year old Psychology student at Uvic. I am a responsible, compassionate and fun spirited person to be around. I spent my summer working as a counsellor at Easter Seals in Camp Shawnigan for youth and young adults with physical and/or mental visibilities. Whilst the job pushed my physical limits (lack of sleep and complete nutrition), creating and facilitating a week in which my campers were embraced and celebrated for their exceptionalities rather than their disabilities was beyond rewarding. Simply put, making them happy made me happy. Outside of school, I am hoping to return to volunteering once a week at the Learning Disability Centre. I am first and foremost an academic tutor; yet, many of my students just need someone to talk to before they can tackle their homework. I would be more than happy to spend my mornings and evenings with your children :) This summer, I worked as a counsellor at Easter Seals in Camp Shawnigan for youth and young adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. Ages of campers ranged from 6 yrs to 25 yrs. Personal care (bathroom, bedtime, shower) emotional and physical support, feeding and engaging alongside during activities. Looked after 6 kids at one time on a daily basis. Also, I have experience as a nanny working with children aged 4 to 7; transporting to activities, feeding and cleaning up after.
