Nanny in North Vancouver, British Columbia

Hello Families! *update* I am currently available mornings as of March 2016. I am an Early Childhood Educator, with at least 15 years experience guiding and nurturing the development of children in their earliest years. My experience with children and families is broad, gained both in the classroom and various child centered environments. I am passionate about education, and not only in the traditional sense. Experiential education, gained from the exploration of various environments, is where I believe the most valuable sources of early knowledge are gained. That said, I am deeply supportive of the North Shore sustainable food systems and their community gardens, and would surely find opportunities to bring wonderful food garden experiences to your children and hopefully the community as a whole. On Winter weekends, I am often found up at Whistler, skiing the trails of Lost Lake or just wandering around the area with my Mom’s dog. In the Summer, I still retreat to Whistler, to canoe and hike around, camping and always exploring- seeking out the next new ‘perfect spot’. I am very comfortable on my own in the wilderness, in fact more comfortable alone than with others. I like to find the peace before I share it! When I can find some down time here in the city, I love reading great literature and am always on the look out for some new fantastic story, if not, some wonderful classic favorites. I write alot and am entering a time of writing children’s literature and a community gardening curriculum. There are so many ideas- I am inspired by my own life and the adaptations I make in storytelling for children that translate understandings of our natural world.. Being in the city, namely, my hometown and place of birth- North Vancouver, has definitely had it’s benefits. I have been able to become profoundly involved within my community. While I was working out at UBC Child Care, I became inspired by the close knit campus community. Families who really valued education! And with so many resources to support the acquisition of knowledge, I worked hard at actualizing a multi faculty approach in community project development. It was not until I had to leave for health reasons, and hunker down into my own home, seeking help from my own community on the North Shore, that I was inspired to give back and actualize my ideologies HERE. Where I live, I live with my community. Just like the idea: Everywhere you go, there you are. If you are interested in meeting me, I look forward to sharing our ideas as how we will work together. Able to manage moderate sized groups of young children. But only comfortable with one on one with children younger than 3.
