Hello, my name is Taya! I am a 24 year old child development assistant/pre-school teacher. I have my level one child care certificate, and have 5 solid years experience working with children and youth of all ages. In February of 2012 I travelled to Uganda with a child sponsorship organization. I lived there for two months and worked in schools (elementary and high schools), hospitals, orphanages and the village of Zirobwe). Working in Uganda instilled in me a passion for working with Children and when I returned home I began working with school aged children (aged 5-12). My passion for children continued to grow as I developed as a childcare provider. I obtained my level one childcare certificate and first aid almost immediately and started programming games and activities with a large physical literacy component and learning through play aspect. My goal when working with children is to support children in their everyday ambitions, adding educational aspects in simple games and crafts that is developmentally appropriate for their age. I have since moved on to an educational daycare. I have spent over two years working with children ages 6months-5 years, following curriculum based development. I am now working towards a degree in Psychology with hope of pursuing my Masters in Speech Language Pathology. My duties as a nanny definitely come first, but it would be ideal if I were able to find a family that would allow me enough time to work on my studies whether that be during nap times or "down times" throughout the day, or with flexible hours. I would also love to work with a family that is comfortable with me taking the children on outings to the zoo, science centre and even the mountains for child friendly hikes! I strongly believe that great amounts of learning happen in natural spaces, and I would love the opportunity to educate your children in fun and adventurous (but safe) ways!
