Hello! I absolutely love working with children, so much you could probably say that it is a passion of mine. As I worked at an overnight summer as a counsellor for two years, I would say that I have an abundance of experience in the field of childcare. I have worked with kids from the age of 3 all the way to 14. I also have experience dealing with adults from this job, from meeting them before and after each session, as well as working Family Camp last summer, which welcomes entire families to come up and enjoy or site and staff members. Aside from my camp experience, I also completed my first year of school at the University of Guelph with a major in Sociology. I am currently in the process of switching my degree over to Hotel and Food Administration, which is a hospitality program. That being said, this shows my interest in the social aspects of human life, in a psychological aspect as well as an interactive aspect. I am very optimistic an energetic, have excellent communication skills with people of all ages, and am eager to learn and improve all of these skills. In addition, I know how to discipline in a non-harsh and effective manner. I believe that any child would be happy to have me as their nanny, and I sincerely hope to be considered! For two summers I was a counsellor at YMCA Camp Pine Crest, which is an overnight camp in Muskoka. I was the guardian to a group of 8 children for three sessions per summer with one co-counsellor. Aside from on-camp activities that we ran with not only our children, but with other children at the camp, my co-counsellor and I would lead an outtrip off of the camp between 2 and 5 days, dependent on the age of the children. We would be responsible for all of the first-aid, time-management, cooking and leadership responsibilities while on outtrip. At camp, we had all of the same responsibilities besides cooking. Aside from the obvious responsibilities, we also had to constantly keep our children entertained, as well as helping with problems such as homesickness.
