Nanny in London, Ontario

Individual
Hello Families!
My name is Emily. I am a student living in Ontario. I love school, and find learning so fulfilling and rewarding. i am working towards my Criminology Degree at Western University. The only thing that school is not fulfilling for me is the connection and amazing relationships I have built with the many children I have worked with. To me, child care is not work. Children have taught me such of the most valuable lessons I have ever learned (funny how that works, aren\'t we supposed to teach them?), and I find that I am happiest when my life involves child care. It is a passion, and I would like to use this passion to help families who need an extra hand! Through a mission trip years ago where I was building a school for children in Africa, I realized the joy I have for working with children, and sought to continue doing so upon returning back home. From there, I applied to work at the YMCA as both a Youth Department Employee as well as a Day Camp Counsellor. I stayed for two years, until I had to leave for school, and miss it desperately.
Some of my core beliefs about child care include communication, safety and variety. I believe that communication is key to proper child care, as it is so important to know what both parents AND children want and need out of a nanny. One strategy I particularly think is great is having a home journal for nannies, parents and children- where everyone can record their thoughts, notes, experiences and needs- so that nothing is forgotten and everything is accessible to all. It is important that parents are aware of daily plans, meals and experiences. Safety is also a large (possibly the largest) component of proper child care. I have completed multiple training weeks with the YMCA to ensure safety, including Epi-Pen training, WHIMIS training etc. It is also important to note that every child is different- mentally, emotionally and physically. All children have different needs to make their day safe and comfortable, and I think it is very important to communicate these needs to that they can be delivered. Finally, variety is what, in my opinion, makes me a unique future nanny. I would look forward to planning eventful days full of a variety of things- art, learning, physical activity, drama activities, games and books, dance, you name it- things that will ENHANCE your child\'s time with me, where parents can expect to come home to an excited child.
If you are looking for experience, dedication, punctuality, responsibility- awesome. I know you will find that, maybe even not with me. However, if you are looking for all those things but also a friend to your child, a passionate worker who will make everyday an adventure for your child full of learning and fun, than I am your girl.
I look forward to hearing from you, and appreciate your time reading my message to you.
I\\\'ve worked with children in Africa, as well as working for the Youth Department of the YCMA for two years, and children\\\'s Day Camp with the YMCA. I have had to care for up to 30 kids in one group for 8 hours a day, five days a week. I was required to plan a fufilling, multi interest schedule to suit large and small amounts of children in one day, as well as monitoring lunch. I have also worked in a home where I was to prepare all meals and make sure children had a well rounded day. I have worked with a large range of ages of children, and do not feel that there is an age I would not be able to handle.
