Hello! My name is Nicole Pettipas, I'm 23 years old and I am originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have completed my Bachelor of Applied Arts with a major in Child and Youth Studies and a minor in Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University and I am currently a student George Brown College taking a post-grad Autism and Behavioural Sciences program. As you can see on my profile I have a lot of experience working with children who have special needs and with children of all ages and I'm very flexible when it comes to the hours that I would be available to work. I have been taking French since the 7th grade and though I am not bilingual I know enough of the language to communicate and I am currently attempting to teach myself sign language. I have been babysitting since the age of 12 and have babysat children between the ages of 5 days old and 13 years old. I have volunteered as a camp counsellor at an overnight, week-long camp for children with asthma during 2 previous summers and I have also worked as the inclusion co-ordinator at a day camp for the past 4 summers. That means that I not only worked as a counsellor for children between 4-13 years but if there were any children with special needs attending our camp that needed 1-on-1 support then I would provide that care. I have also completed multiple practicum placements through my undergraduate degree including a daycare, a developmental preschool, a Jr./Sr. primary classroom and an early intervention centre. Finally I worked at a part-time respite care provider for 2.5 years with a family with 3 daughters. Two of whom are typically developing children and one has Kabuki syndrome.
