Hello, I am excited to be pursing a career as a nanny. Over the years I have had wonderful opportunities to work with children in a variety of situations - classroom, group programs and respite care in the family home. I have discovered that my heart lies in working with children in their own homes to grow and develop through play. I am a fun loving and energetic individual with a carefree sense of humour. Although I love to laugh and play, I am also aware of boundaries and the need for appropriate structure. My goals are to encourage growth and confidence through both organized and unstructured activities in a safe and non-judgemental environment. Thank you, Kara While completing the Grant McEwan Special Needs Educational Assistant program in 2012 I had the opportunity (for my practicum) to work in an elementary school classroom. Prior to completing my education I worked both volunteer and as a summer day program aide for Robin Hood Association. Through my studies and presently, I have continued to be employed with Robin Hood Association in Sherwood Park for family support/respite care - working in-home with a variety of families and their children. I have a lot of experience working with infants from 6 weeks old up to children of 18 years of age. I have worked with numerous families, including one with 3 energetic boys (5, 7 and 10) that were always going in different directions. I learned very quickly to stay on my toes at all times and define distinct boundaries. I have also worked with a family with a new baby (6 weeks) and a 4 year old where I learned to do everything with one hand, while being adaptable to the needs of both children. In all of my experiences working with children I have learned to leave the tough times behind and have a blast.
