Hello! My name is Kate and I absolutely adore caring for children! I have 5 years of experience baby-sitting for various families as well as working for the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes. Fun activities, such as experiments and creative crafts or exploring new places such as the science center or the zoo, are a must when I am caring for children as I know how important hands on activities are in aiding child development. I started at a young age by babysitting for a few family friends here and there. When I was 14 years old I began working at the local Boys and Girls Club in my community at the after school program. Daily I would be paired with a large group of children between the ages of 3.5-12 years old. During this time I would be responsible for ensuring the safety of all children, dealing with different conflicts, and creating a fun, dimensional and active program plan for children to participate in. During the summer I would work at the Boys and Girls Club full time in the Amazing Mites program as well as running the morning Breakfast Club each day. The Amazing Mites program is for children between the ages of 3.5-6 years old. As a group we would travel to locations such as the zoo, Chucky Cheese, splash pads and the park. The Breakfast Club entailed making a healthy breakfast for all children who participated in the early care program and to teach children the importance of healthy eating in a fun way.
