Hi! My name is Sigrid McKay, I am a third year student at Queen's University majoring in Political Science but home is in the Beaches of Toronto. I have extensive experience working with children in my previous jobs. For the past three summers I have worked as a camp counsellor at Onondaga Camp, where I ensured that campers ages 6 to 16 years old were taken care of. My role specifically, was ensuring that girls aged 10-13 were enjoying their experiences at camp. I was able to accomplish this by creating emotional bonds with the girls and allowing them to express themselves freely without feeling pressure from their peers. After completing my third summer at Onondaga, I can honestly assure you that your child would be well taken care of. As well, I have extensive experience babysitting both boys and girls in my neighbourhood. During this time my duties and responsibilities were to clean the house, make sure that we were outside playing activities rather than sitting inside and watching TV. I would also cook meals for the children that I was babysitting. With this, I have experience cooking at the Beaches Bakeshop and Cafe where I made Swedish pastries and delicious quinoa salads, as well as other foods such as quiche and sandwiches. As a person I am kind, friendly, energetic and outgoing and with this I am also a time-efficient person and with these skills I would be able to ensure to you that I am responsible and smart when exploring the city. I would love to plan trips and allow for your child's mind to grow over the summer because I feel that the best way a child can learn is by experiencing new things and this can be accomplished by visiting and learning about what the city has to offer.
