Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
Hello dear family, I am a professional nanny with more than 7 years of experience in the US and Canada. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education, I speak English and Spanish, and currently I am in my last semester of mechanical engineering technology at SAIT. I am an advocate for respectful parenting, positive parenting, and non-traditional pedagogies like Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia. Some of my favourite authors in infant and child development are Magda Gerber, Janet Lansbury, Daniel Siegel, and Ellyn Satter. I have read some of their publications and I have applied some of their principles in my previous nanny jobs, with parents' approval. I feel genuine admiration for children and I am constantly marvelled at their curiosity and eagerness to explore the world around them. I believe each child is unique and amazing, and they deserve all of our love, patience, consideration, care, and respect. In my work as a nanny, I strive to provide children with age appropriate activities that are fun, but that also allow them to develop skills. I focus on activities related to science, language development, physical movement, motor and fine skills, reading, math and brain development, and art. My nanny experience in Canada started in 2017 and includes providing care during 2 years, for three children under the age of seven, including one infant, a child with Down Syndrome, and a preschooler. In addition I took care of one year old twins for three years, from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, I was an au pair in the US from 2011 to 2013, where I provided fulltime care for school age children. Some other details about me: I am originally from Colombia. I am passionate about science, space, and technology. In my free time I love reading, weight lifting, and hiking. I am an animal lover, and I am currently a foster through Pawsitive Match Foundation. I live in Legacy, with my husband, and our foster cat Blitzen.

Katherine was our nanny for a year and a half for at the time our 2 and 7 year old. Katherine was one of the best childcare providers we have had. She is smart, warm, resourceful, mature, helpful and fabulous with children. My children loved Katherine so much and were incredibly sad when she moved back home. 5 years later and my children still talk about her and in fact, my older child keeps a very special letter that Katherine gave her and recently pinned it on her bulletin board. Katherine would always come up with new things to do with the kids, would read to them, play with them and most importantly I always knew they were safe. As working parents, Katherine made our lives so much easier and we knew our children were always in the best of hands. Katherine always went above and beyond to support our family and loved her like our own member of the family. She is a gem in so many ways.

In 10 years of having nannies for my two children - Katherine is the #1 nanny of all time. She is the greatest nanny you will ever hire. Katherine was an occasional babysitter for us and then she lived with us full time. She was amazing at finding local/inexpensive activities in our area and I think took our kids to every park imaginable. She kept them very active, fed them healthy food, helped them with school work, took them to playdates, tutors, classes, et., did their laundry, and was so loving and fun. She is truly a gem.

I highly recommend Katherine and I am sure she will be a great caregiver because she is very responsible, creative, fun, loving, patient, caring, smart, hard-working, and, she has great skills that any kid would love. she is great at sports and has great ideas for indoor and outdoor activities, I am sure kids will never get bored with her because she never runs out of ideas to keep them happy, entertained and busy. She is a people person, and kids get to like her very easily. She is always willing to help, she is a self-starter, a natural leader, a great cook, and, she always goes for the extra mile. Besides, Katherine is an excellent educator, she is patient and very compromised with children's needs and development, what's more, I believe she is an excellent role model for those who get around her and have the opportunity to meet her, she learns very fast and is incredibly great at multitasking.
