Dear family, I am responsible, loving and energetic. I understand that each child is unique and requires special attention. I am able to adapt easily to unexpected situations. I have several years of working with children of all ages, including mentally and physically handicapped individuals. I also have my first-aid. I look forward to meeting your family. For two years I volunteered as a camp leader in-training, providing support for children with cancer and their siblings at Camp Goodtimes, near Maple Ridge. I have been accepted as a camp counsellor there this summer, as a volunteer counsellor for children, for the first week in July. I have gained experience caring for children with special needs, including children who are on chemotherapy treatment, children with different developmental challenges and children in wheelchairs. Over the past year I volunteered with Special Olympics B.C., as a play facilitator for children with special needs, such as autism and Down syndrome. Every week I helped organize games for these kids (toddlers to age 10) and worked with them in groups or one-on-one, offering enthusiasm and guidance as they played in a gym at Quest University Through my experiences, I have learned that every child has unique needs and abilities. I am naturally attuned to children, I have a lot of patience, and a great sense of humour. I have a great reputation among the families in my neighborhood and at Camp Goodtimes.
