My name is Candace and I am a PATIENT, LOVING, CARING and CREATIVE nanny with 18 years experience who will care for your children as though they are my own. I am currently seeking a live-out position that may be part or full time and potentially flexible hours. I am vaccinated for Covid-19 with my first dose currently and intend to get second as soon as possible. I am very aware of covid-19 precautions and I take it seriously. I am seeking a family that is diligent, taking all precautions and is interested in following public health guidelines for everyone's safety. I am passionate about working with children with special needs as well as babies. They often share many characteristics and I would love the opportunity to explore either at this time. I miss both areas of care. I love working with children who have severe or complex needs because even though their daily care might be a challenge they are amazing little people just waiting for someone to take the time to learn to communicate with them and help them explore the world in a way they are able to. They may need aides like wheelchairs or walkers to get around, they may need assistive devices to communicate or they may need medication or tube feeding but they deserve to learn and explore just like everyone else in this world, it just might be in a different way. I am experienced and trained in the various therapies like OT, PT, Speech and Sensory Exploration which I miss having the opportunity to engage with frequently these past few years. I am also experienced with a variety of medical conditions including but definitely not limited to Seizures/Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, G-Tube Feeding, Diabetes, Medication Administration and much more. When it comes to medical emergencies I am calm, cool and collected while taking a hands on approach to ensure only the best outcome from the situation at hand. I have over 18 years professional experience working with children in a variety of capacities including a nanny with 3 children, in-home care / respite, head teacher in Early Childhood classrooms (12 months to 6 years), community support aide, caregiver with infants and much more. I have 5 years of post-secondary education in both Early Childhood Care and Education as well as Disability Studies. I have a passion for caring for and working with children. I love the challenge of working with children with complex special needs and high medical needs. As for infants I love to snuggle and provide a loving, caring environment with lots of hands on experience (I am not afraid to get dirty). I love rocking and soothing them and for many babies in my care in the past I have been known for my ability to calm or soothe them from crying when nothing else seems to work. I love to explore the community with the children in my care. I love to go to places like the zoo, the library, lots of parks, swimming pools and explore cultural experiences. Basically anywhere that I can provide an educational experience while providing the highest level of care. I do drive and have a vehicle but would prefer for the family to provide access to a vehicle for transportation of the children (negotiable). I love to engage children through singing and music as well as providing developmentally appropriate activities that are geared to their level. I am not just a regular nanny looking to babysit.
