Nanny in Oakville

Many times before we have heard the expression it takes a village to raise a child and I strongly agree that you may never have too many positive role models. I believe that is who I am to all the children I have worked with. Throughout my years as a Babysitter, Swimming Instructor and more recently a 1 on 1 Special needs Camp Leader, I have worked alongside parents to provide fun, learning experiences for their children. My name is Josie and I am a recently completed my undergraduate degree in Biology and Physiology at McMaster University. My work with the university includes my role as a Teaching Assistant (TA), a Tutor and a research assistant at McMasters Children's Hospital as well as the Vascular Dynamics Lab. My experience with children living with special needs includes working with the Town as a Special Needs 1 on 1 Camp Leader. During camp, I was the sole caregiver for a young boy with Angelman's Syndrome and another boy with Autism. I was responsible for feeding, changing, bathroom and promoting learning in a positive environment. My goal was to manipulate activities to encourage social integration, while in doing so, I gained a knowledge of his disorder and needs. I have also worked with Oakville Swim Academy as a Swim Instructor. Here, my duties involved developing and constructing teaching plans and methods, but to ultimately encourage learning in a positive manner. The maximum number of children in a class was four and other classes involved private lessons. This position required many certifications such as NLS and CPR in order to provide assistance to individuals in need of emergent care. I also held the position of the Deck Supervisor ensuring the safety of all staff and students within the pool area. In addition, I have been a babysitter since the age of thirteen. I have maintained a strong relationship with many families for several years. The youngest child I have babysat was 14 months, as well as a set of twins not much older (21 months. The most children I have cared for at once is four children, caring for these children required a wide range of activities including; mealtime, changing, games, toileting and occasional homework assistance. I look forward to hearing from you and possible opporunities Email: Phone Number: 905-844-...
