Nanny Job in Kitchener, Ontario

I am looking for an extremely reliable, kind and fun loving after school caregiver for my two children who happen to have developmental disabilities. The role requires the caregiver to pick up both children from their drop off location (located in Eastbridge neighbourhood in Waterloo) and to bring them to our home in Kiwanis Park in order to provide supervision until parents arrive home from work. Both children are fairly independent after school, but will require supervision and assistance with preparing after school snacks and changing out of their school clothes. The younger of the two (boy, aged 13) enjoys spending some time reading and playing with his caregiver, or catching up on his favourite tv shows, while the older of the two (girl, aged 16) prefers independent time unwinding with her ipad and then assisting with meal preparation. The role includes transporting the children (being on reliable and always on time is critical!), after school supervision (as outlined above above and also unpacking backpacks and emptying lunch bags, organizing any communication information for parents, etc) and dinner/meal preparation, with the assistance of the children. Hours of work are 2:30 to 5:45 three times per week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, depending on week). Availability to assist on PD days is an added bonus! I am looking for someone with a great positive energy and a true love and respect for teenagers with developmental disabilities. Must also be comfortable around animals as we have two small dogs. My children are kind, loving and incredibly humorous and will respond very well to someone who is of a similar nature. As a side note, my 13 year old has epilepsy and has infrequent seizures (approx once a month). Successful applicant must be comfortable in handling potential for seizure and in following well established protocol in dealing with them. Must have reliable transportation, valid drivers license with good driving record and clean vulnerable persons check.
