Nanny Job in Halifax, Nova Scotia

We are a busy family of five and we've just relocated back to Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are two full-time professionals with three kids, currently two are at home, aged 13 and 11. Below is the role we're seeking: Caregiver/Household Manager for Afterschool/Evenings We are seeking a responsible, active, and engaged caregiver to help for the school year, starting as soon as possible. The main requirement is afterschool during the week (hours typically ranging 3-6 pm, with some variation and flexibility), with occasional weekend help. As Caregiver and Household Manager you will be responsible for the wellbeing of two boys (11- and 13-year-olds) as well as to help maintain organization of the home. We are located within walking distance of SMU and Dalhousie University. Relevant experience attending to kids of this age, as caregiver or coach (or similar role), is required, as is a driver’s license and clear driving record. Additional asset would be an ability to help with music practice and engaging in the activities they enjoy (skate park, mountain biking, electronic music making, video editing, for example) This role includes but is not limited to: School Support: -Creating engaged learning environment -Helping with homework and reading, ensuring homework is complete Caregiving: -Creating and or/ reinforcing routines (ie homework and music practice) -Healthy snack preparation - Encouraging outings and activities -Having fun with them! Extra-curricular Activities: - Help/ supervision of music practice (cello, trombone, bass guitar - specific knowledge of these instruments not a requirement) - Getting kids prepared and to their activities, sometimes requires driving Household: - General tidying and household organizing (with kids) - dog walking from time to time (with kids) - Home management duties and projects as required Other: -Having a car for transportation on occasion is preferable, but not necessary -Potential for extra hours if interested (e.g., in-service, snow days, evenings, weekends) Compensation will be based on $20/hour.
