Nanny Job in Lakefield, Ontario

We are looking for the right person to provide companionship, conversation, and community outings for our 15 year old son, Thomas, who is on the Autism Spectrum. The right candidate is an excellent listener, an eager learner, a lover of dogs, and a social justice ally. Thomas does not attend traditional high-school. Instead, Thomas works on self-directed research projects, life skills, and occasional volunteering in the community. We need someone for an average of 20 hours per week starting at the beginning of September. Shifts will typically be 4-5 weekday afternoons between 1-5pm. Our home is in a rural location, and is on the waterfront, so there is lots of opportunity for nature outings, etc. But, because we live about 30 minutes from Peterborough, travel to and from our home to town for outings and activities is an important part of this position. Access to a reliable vehicle is required--there is a weekly stipend for gas money, over and above the rate of pay. Thomas is extremely passionate about his special interests (including geography, cryptozoology, political science, social justice, and equal rights for all). Must be a dog lover!
