Nanny Job in Milton, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
**Currently seeking a caregiver for 30hr/week before & after school care (and some evenings) for my 9-year old twins starting in late summer or fall 2022. Live-in preferred, Live-out will be considered. I am a single mother of 9-year old boy-girl twins living in an alcohol and smoke-free home. I am looking for a caregiver to provide before and after school care for the twins. Childcare for full days is required when the school is closed or during summer holidays. The twins have ADHD and some anxiety and learning disabilities - so they need someone patient and kind. We are looking for someone to join our family for the next few years and we'll provide a stable home environment for you. I will consider taking over sponsorship for a caregiver already in Canada. DUTIES: Childcare Duties: • Put the absolute safety of the children first before all other responsibilities • Help the kids in their daily activities - getting dressed, pack lunches, showers/baths, homework help, etc. • Participate in and supervise activities with children including games, walks, play dates, playground and library outings and reading with them • Provide daily homework help and reading/mathematics practice with the children • Prepare meals for children during scheduled hours, clean up kitchen and dining table when completed • Limit television, video and electronics time Additional Duties: • Keep the children’s bedrooms and play area clean and organized: which includes making the beds, vacuuming carpet, helping them clean up their toys, etc. • Prepare the children’s lunches for school • Weeknight dinner preparation for the twins Regular Housekeeping duties: o clean the children’s laundry, towels and bed linens as required o keep the kitchen clean and empty the dishwasher as required o clean the children’s bathroom as required o keep caregiver living area and bathroom clean as required QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum 2 years of recent experience caring for young children • Experience working with children with ADHD and/or special learning needs is an asset • The successful completion of the equivalent of a Canadian secondary school • The ability to speak, read and understand English • Ability to pass medical, security and criminal clearances • First Aid Certification (or willingness to be certified) • Preference will be given to applicants who have a post-secondary education related to child development • Must have references HOURS & WAGES: Typical hours are Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 9:30am (for school drop off) and 3:30pm – 6:00pm. Generally, the caregiver is off while the children are in school. Paid time off will be given on all statutory holidays. 30 hours per week at $17/hr depending on experience. All hours are paid in accordance with employment standards. ACCOMMODATIONS (for live-in): We live in a nice neighborhood where there are lots of young families, parks and a library nearby. You will have your own room beside the children’s room and share a bathroom with the children. Your room is bright and spacious with large windows, a double bed, dresser and large closet. Unlimited internet, television and Netflix are provided in your bedroom. Milton has a full bus transit system and GO bus and train stops that go outside of town and into downtown Toronto (45-60 minute bus ride). Family Profile: We live in Milton, Ontario which is a suburb of Toronto. Our town is very much a bedroom community and can be quiet during the day. The nanny who joins us will have the house to herself while the kids are at school during the day. There is also a plaza near my home with a grocery store, a pharmacy and a Starbucks! The transit system in our town is not quite as good as in a big city, but you can get around by walking, biking and transit. I am unable to provide access to a car but if you live-out you will be required to get yourself to/from my home. You can get to downtown Toronto in about 45-60 minutes by bus or train. We are also about 1 hour drive from Niagara Falls and some of the most beautiful walking trails are very close by. There is lots to do in the Greater Toronto Area on the weekends. Day to day life here is very busy. I work downtown Toronto and leave early in the morning and come home around 6-6:30. The kids have some activities on the weekends and we often will get out and see friends on weekends. If you live in and are home on weekends just know that the children do wake early, so it might be a bit harder to sleep in! Our current caregiver often plans outings with her friends on weekends.
