Nanny Job in Hamilton, Ontario

We are a young family with 3 children (8, 5 and 2) living on the west Hamilton mountain. We are both essential services shift workers. We are looking for a Full-time, active, outgoing live-out nanny. We are offering full time rotating hours (including wknds). Occasional overnights required (appropriate accommodation is available for you). Average day is 7am-800pm. On the very rare occasion overnight care is required. We have no pets. We would like some light housekeeping/meal preparation for the kids which can be negotiable so some cooking skills are essential. We require someone who is reliable and flexible. There may be days where one of us may be delayed in coming home, requiring you to stay longer. Our oldest boy is in Gr 2. He is an active boy who loves to play outside. He may need some help with homework in the evening. Our middle boy is in JK. He is our quieter, cuddly one. Loves to play quietly with his cars and read books but also loves running outside and playing at the park. Our youngest is almost 2 years old. She is spunky and loves going out for play dates! Transportation is provided if you are required to drive the kids somewhere (swimming lessons, soccer, hockey, park, etc.) Wage: $15/hr benefits. Overtime at 1.5x for holidays ------------------------------------------------------------------- Job Description Primary Responsibilities • Creating a nurturing and stimulating environment • Meeting the children’s social, emotional and physical needs • Providing age-appropriate activities • Dressing the children • Bathing the children • Assisting with self-care and hygiene, including diapering • Potty training • Disciplining the children, when necessary and in accordance with our parenting principles • Reading to the children • Preparing nutritious meals and snacks • Returning the house to the condition it was in upon arrival • Instilling good manners and a sense of responsibility • Taking the children on age-appropriate outings • Transporting the children to and from activities and appointments Secondary Responsibilities • Doing the children’s laundry • Keeping the children’s bedroom and toy room organized and tidy • Light house cleaning (as time permits). Qualifications and prerequisites may include, but are not limited to: • Prefer at least 2 years of previous nanny experience • Experience caring for toddlers, preschoolers • Excellent, verifiable references • Current first aid and CPR certification • High school graduate • Degree in early childhood education (or similar) • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle • Police Background check • Authorization to legally accept employment in Canada • Dependable, honest and trustworthy • Can work independently • Knowledge of the community and activities available to young children.
