Nanny Job in Guelph, Ontario

We are looking for someone to take care of kids in September. We have three boys (7, 6, 4), They will all be in full time school programs in September but we will need help with mornings and after school care. Our oldest son has autism. He is fun, loving, adorable and truly a wonderful kid who loves to play. He sometimes has difficulty with using the right words so he needs someone who is patient and able to take the time to listen to him/hear him. His has good self care skills but does require some support with his daily routine. The job details are essentially: We require a nanny for 10 months of the year (September to June) and you would be off 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week for March break, and 8 weeks in the summer (July/august). (Hopefully this will allow you to travel or have a break) All stat holidays are paid as a full day (6hrs), but not during the weeks off mentioned above. Starting pay range is $13-$15 per hour for 6hrs a day starting with the opportunity for a raise after 3 months. The day is split, 7:30-9:30 a.m. to help get the kids fed and ready for school and to see that they get on the school bus, then 1:30-5:30 p.m. to do some errands or get things ready for the kids, pick them up, feed them and help with light cleaning around the house. Ideally this could mean getting dinner started for the kids, laundry of the kids clothes and general tidying/dishes that sort of thing. Light errands of getting groceries or things like that as well as needed. The kids are not done school until 3:00, so the 1:30-3:0...hrs per day) is flexible and intended for errands/meal prep/cleaning. So this could also be done in the morning after the kids leave for school. This leaves some time during the day to yourself to do what ever (if you`re taking any courses...) The ideal candidate would be willing to help in the event of illness or emergencies or if one of the kids needs to leave school, but will not be expected to be available all day. We do have a car that we can make available if transportation is a concern for errands etc otherwise a mileage arrangement will be set up to compensate you if using your own car for errands. For anyone looking to have a career working with kids with special needs, we would be more than happy to provide a letter of recommendation when the time comes to ensure you can show the experience working with our oldest son. We can also involve you in as little or as much of the strategies and programs he uses so you can have hands on knowledge of the challenges and strategies a typical family living with autism uses.
