We are a Canadian family currently living in the US. Jessica has been the Au Pair to our two daughters (currently 2 and 4 years old) since September 2017. In that time, Jessica has shown herself to be a loving and capable caregiver, and a wonderful addition to our family. She is able to take on all aspects of childcare with enthusiasm and a smile, including: - changing diapers: our youngest is still in diapers. She also suffers from eczema and sensitive skin, yet we experience very few episodes of diaper rash, and then only mild - dressing and bathing: Jessica takes direction on which clothes are appropriate for school and which for home. She also helps the girls pick out their own clothes. Jessica enjoys putting different styles of bows and braids into the girls' hair - laundry: Sometimes if Jessica is running laundry at the end of the day on Friday she may leave things to finish in the dryer. Otherwise, Clothes are washed, folder and put away. Our kids enjoy dress-up, and their princess costumes have remained stain free - meal prep and cleanup: Jessica enjoys baking and cooking. She will prepare warm meals for the girls at lunch, and has several times prepared traditional Brazilian meals for the whole family. Jessica has no food allergies, and few dietary restrictions (not the biggest fan of rice or fish) - indoor and outdoor play: Inside, Jessica plays make-believe, builds with blocks and helps with board games, as well as more active tasks. Outdoors, she takes the girls to local parks and the backyard - reading: As both our children are still learning to read and enjoy books, it was important for us that they be exposed to this as much as possible. Jessica's English skills have improved significantly since she has been with us, and she reads with the girls daily - exploration and creation: Jessica regularly takes the girls to local museums or play spaces to explore and learn. When at home, she comes up with all sorts of crafts and activities to keep the children busy. We often come home to see a new painting, sculpture, or other creative - driving to/from activities and school: She properly secures the children in their car seats, and follows safe driving practices, including obeying all signs and speed limits. Jessica has experience driving in the rain and snow. -cleanliness: Jessica is responsible to clean her own room and bathroom, as well as the children's rooms and play area. We try to have a fairly predictable routine, but when plans change, including under short notice, Jessica has always been quick to adapt and accommodate. She is dependable, respectful of house rules and has never given us reason for concern. When off-duty, Jessica appreciates her private time to reflect in her room or explore the neighbourhood. We respect her privacy and have not had any issues with noise or unwanted behaviour. In fact, we have had such a good experience that we extended Jessica's time with us to the extent permitted by her visa. We have loved having Jessica in our lives, and will be sad to see her go. Jessica will be an excellent addition to a family who is looking for someone to care for one or multiple children. Specific to this position, Jessica has a currently valid Canadian visitor visa, has traveled to Canada several times (Ottawa, Niagara Falls) including in the winter, and is aware of the culture and climate.
