Hello there! I am incredibly passionate about the care and education of children, as the majority of my life has been surrounded by caring for them. I grew up with a low - functioning autistic brother who had severe emotional and physical disabilities that prohibited him from joining activities with neurotypical groups of children, so I looked after and cared for him his entire life; teaching him how to cook, bake, run, bike, hike, swim, dance, sing, do household chores, complete schoolwork, read, write, and even complete athletic feats such as triathlons. I have since helped countless children with many different abilities learn the same thing, and built connections with wonderful families I have been with for years now. I have babysat since I was ten and achieved my certificate at twelve. I have looked after five children at one time, all ranging from newborns to age thirteen. I have extensive knowledge in meal preparation, tutoring and teaching, housekeeping, first aid, and CPR. I was a gymnastics, parkour and trampoline coach for over 6 years; where I taught competitive and recreational gymnastics, as well as organising birthday parties and games for patrons, and made interactive activities for all the children attending. I have been a tutor in math, science to the high school graduate level, and English and all Humanities subjects to a university level (as I’m currently in university). I have also been a Behavioural Interventionist for the last 4 years, specifically working with children on the spectrum to help them meet their social, emotional, and physical goals in the community and in their homes. I have dealt with extreme escapism and aggressive behaviour, and have been trained in how to respond calmly with ABA Therapy, which is a progressive and compassionate approach that focuses on meeting each child (autistic or otherwise) where they are at, instead of forcing them to jump through hoops that are expected of neurotypical children. It is highly important to me that all children are met with empathy and respect, no matter how big the emotion or reaction they may be feeling, as everyone deserves compassion and love, especially young minds that are still growing. I genuinely enjoy working with children and fulfils and makes me happy, and I have literally over a decade of experience; with dozens and dozens of families that I have wonderful relationships with and have basically raised their children alongside them, and helped them grow.
