Nanny Job in Ardrossan, Alberta

Looking for a respite provider mostly for the odd week in the summer and odd weekend the rest of the year for my small 13 year old autistic daughter who is about the size of an 8 year old. Rachel is a delightful and quirky girl who knows how to entertain herself quite well but has her share of struggles and challenges and needs help with most of her daily tasks. She can say a few words/short phrases and can usually make it known what she wants but we are working with a speech device to make it a little easier for her to communicate her needs which she is catching onto. She has been on a special diet for most of her life. She has an extensive history of gut/bowel health issues and used to be on a feeding tube because she refused to eat and was failure to thrive. But thru a special healing diet she improved immensely and began eating and thriving but still has ongoing food restrictions to maintain her health. I also had to purée her food to get her to eat and she has yet to learn to chew. But as long as I purée her food she can eat independently. She has been getting into dairy recently which she loves but can cause her to regress so that’s something we have to be careful of. She is also not yet potty trained mostly due to her bowel history/irregularity. Duties would include some food prep and possibly helping to make her food on occasion(I usually batch cook and freeze her food), changing her diapers, sometimes bathing/showering her, and potty training. But mostly supervising and encouraging her independence and communication skills and managing any behaviours (She has been known to bite herself or objects or hit her head when frustrated or in pain). She currently only eats pureed foods, thou she has been interested in some whole foods but she doesn't know how to chew or suck from a straw so that is something we want to work towards. Next year she will be going to school for full days. I’m mostly looking for someone to provide respite care for the summer and possibly overnight and/or multiple days as we would like to get away to focus on our other kids. Rachel has two older biological sisters aged 14 and 15 and two step sisters that we have half time who are aged 9 and 10, all of which are independent and should not require child care. We also have a German shepherd/husky that is 6 months old as of the end of June that we may also need watched. We also have a big garden that may need watering. We just moved to an acreage in the Ardrossan area in September 2022 and looking for help to begin immediately, particularly over the summer.
