Nanny Job in Toronto, Ontario

We are seeking an occasional (2-4 evenings a month) caregiver for our two kids: born January 2020 born May 2017. Candidate Description: Our ideal candidate is someone who is above all, focussed on our children’s well-being and development into being *kind and caring people*. We seek someone who our children will not only like, but love, and view as an important adult in their trusted circle of guiding them through this formative time in their lives. Early childhood education training and/or related training/experience would be optimal. While we always appreciate everyone contributing to the household, we are not looking for a cook or house cleaner. About Our Family: Both our children are affectionate, independent, curious, and high-energy. The both also love the outdoors and creative play. Our parenting style focuses on developing our children’s sense of empathy and care for others, providing them boundaries with space to explore, and helping them discover who they are as individuals. We use many principles from attachment parenting when our children are babies, and many principles from Janet Lansbury as our children develop into toddlers and beyond. We do believe in boundaries and natural consequences, but we do not believe in harsh discipline or shaming our children. Though we are busy professionals, we try to rely minimally on screen time (and no screen time before 18 months), and instead use free and pretend play (indoor and outdoors), and focussed activities such as books and puzzles and building tools. Our kids enjoy activities outside our home such as school, sports (for the older child), time at local playgrounds, destinations such as the ROM and the science centre, as well as co-piloting for grocery shopping and other errands. We have two large and lovable middle-aged dogs, who are low maintenance. About us as Employers: We are fair employers who will treat you respectfully and as a professional in your field.
