Nanny Job in Ottawa, Ontario

Short version: We have two children on the autism spectrum and we're looking for someone who can help us out. When the kids are home they would be your only responsibility but if you wanted more hours and like to cook/clean/organize we could add in more responsibilities to add more hours. If you're available please let us know. Pay is flexible based on qualifications and experience. Here's our family situation: Both parents work from home most days - there is always a parent at home. Our son is 9 and is non-verbal autistic and has type one diabetes. He's non-stop motion, and loves to be outside - he particularly likes going to playgrounds, bouncing on our trampoline and playing in our hot tub. He also loves to go for walks and has just gotten an accessible trike. The more time he can spend outside, the better. He's a sweet kid - he loves to laugh and has a smile that lights up a room. He's working on using PECs to communicate. He's very friendly and doesn't have any behavioural issues. He has mild pica and has no fear so he needs constant supervision. Our daughter is 12. She's also on the spectrum, but completely opposite to her brother. She likes to sit quietly and read or play on her iPad. She's starting to like to use her scooter, roller skate and play at the park. She loves to spend time with her brother going to parks, on walks and playing in our backyard. For this summer we are looking for someone to take care of our son every morning from 8am to 12pm. (If you're interested in hours in the school year we could also work something out.) We have a lot of things to do in our yard and we have lots of parks close by. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with both autism and type one diabetes. A parent will always be home to check his sugars/give him insulin/make sure he has the right snack. If you're thinking of making a career helping children with disabilities, you will get quite a bit of hands-on experience! This would also be a great position for an ECE for the summer.
