Nanny in North Vancouver, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I am looking for a part time position in North Vancouver. I will be happy to meet your family anytime. I am currently working with a family part time in Lynn Valley :) I am friendly, responsible and enthusiastic about working with children. I’ve recently graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, ON with a BA degree in Linguistics, concentration in Psycholinguistics & Communication Difficulties and a minor in Psychology. With this degree, I took many courses related to child development, including child language acquisition and child developmental psychology. I am fascinated with how fast children grow and change, and it truly feels like a gift to be apart of their young lives. I also have beginner knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) after taking a year-long course at Carleton University. Starting September 2021, I was pursuing a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. I decided that path is not for me, and I’m looking towards other avenues. Know any copywriters?! Most recently, I worked as a nanny to a wonderful 6-month-old little girl. It was a pleasure getting to know her and her lovely family. I was also working as a nanny for the most amazing 18- month-old little boy, and I loved working with him over the few months I was with him and his family as well. I’ve had many previous experiences with child care, stemming from my first babysitting course as a teenager. As a teenager, I accepted many babysitting opportunities offered, leading me to my first nanny job. For a summer in high school, I worked as a nanny on an Indigenous reserve. Here, I gained many valuable experiences, and I am still close with the family I worked with. My related volunteer experiences are vast. My mother is a special needs teacher, and I have been a key member of the Special Olympics volunteer staff for two years. In the past, I have also volunteered at Dragonfly Programme for Learners with Down Syndrome in Ottawa, Ontario. Here, I assisted youth with language, math and communication in order to improve cognitive and social development. I also aided in engaging learner’s physical development through music and movement. I was able to volunteer with DragonFly, and their Speech-Language Pathologist, for two amazing years before the pandemic began. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I would appreciate the opportunity to review my credentials during a personal interview. I am available for contact through both email and phone, and will gladly provide my resume, CPR/First Aid certification, and a criminal record check if requested. Thank you for your time and consideration :)
