I have worked in a variety of jobs but find nothing quite as rewarding as looking after kids. The best part about me is that I actually find it fun to create activities and adventures for kids. I got to dress up as a pirate once a week at the summer camp I worked at and terrorize the camp grounds, and thats possibly the most fun I've ever had. My goal is to create a safe, caring, and fun environment for the children I work with. I treat kids like people and don't insult their intelligence by talking down to them. I like to focus on teaching kindness and emotional intelligence, using skills I have learned taking a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy program. I have been taking care of children from a very early age, having lots of younger cousins and neighbours. My sister has two small girls who I have spent much of my time taking care of. In addition, I worked at Camp Jubilee for three years as a Cabin Leader. This meant I was responsible for the care and entertainment of usually 6-12 children at a time, most of which had developmental setbacks or special care needs.
