I have always felt that children are the most precious gift a family can have! I have had many years of caring for children in-home and in licensed childcare facilities. I love working with children and enjoy being just as goofy as they can be....in fact, I have found that the goofier I am the better children relate to me. Spending time at the park, coloring, reading books, listening to music and singing are all things I love to do with children and are a vital part of the Success By 6 early learning modules. From an early age I have been involved with children in one way or another including babysitting in high school, working as a nanny after graduation, and finally working in one of the child care facilities of Vancouver Island\'s largest child care organization as an Administrative Assistant. There is nothing more important to a child than knowing they matter and although I didn\'t work with the children directly in program, I made a point of calling them by their names and spending a few minutes in the different groups every day. I often would step out into the playground with the daycare children and give them pushes on the swings just because I could. I was once described as having the ability to make little people feel big and have always felt that it is so important to make a difference in the lives of children. Although I haven't worked directly with children in many years, I recently left a long term position with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Vancouver Island where I was in contact with children aged 30 months to 12 on a daily basis. I have spent many afternoons working in the Before and After School Program when they were short handed and have filled in when an extra pair of hands was required in the Daycare. I have a current Criminal Record Check for those working with vulnerable adults and children through the BC Ministry for Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review.
